Out of nine regencies of Bali, Karangasem is one which is located in the eastern part of Bali. It covers an area of 839.54 km². Karangasem comprises of total eight districts. Karangasem is a mesmerizing place due to its picturesque landscape. Amlapura is the capital of Karangasem.This regency experiences two seasons. From April to October, this region is very dry while it rains from November to March. Bebalihan, also called as performing dance, and Wali or sacred dance are the two types of dances presented on different religious ceremonies.People in Karangasem celebrate Otonan in every six months (as per the Balinese calendar). They celebrate this ceremony by praying to God to save their children from evil and preserve them from harm and also wish for them to have long and lucky life. [source: placesonline.com]
