Connecticut

The ship stamps are great! Number 29/50 for my collection.

Sandwiched between sexy New York City and northerly New England’s quainter quarters, Connecticut typically gets short shrift by travelers. Sure the brawny I-95 coastal corridor is largely industrial, but take a closer look and you’re in for pleasant surprises. New Haven, centered around Yale University, has blossomed into a happening place that fuses historic appeal with an up-and-coming cultural scene. Mystic boasts a terrific nautical museum and the Litchfield Hills area, in the state’s northwestern corner, is as prettily pastoral as any place in New England.

The Connecticut River, which slices clear across Connecticut, gives the state its name. The word comes from the Mohegan Indian mouthful quinnehtukqut, which means ‘place of the long river.' [source: lonelyplanet]

Thank you very much Jenny!
