Black-throated Mango Hummingbird

The black throated mango (Anthracothorax nigricollis) has beautiful rainbow plumage that includes shades of blue, green, gold, red and purple. The bird’s head is mostly green with a black throat that extends into a black chest stripe, while the bird’s back and flanks have more green and blue coloration leading to a red tail. Female black throated mangos have white flanks that highlight the black chest and abdomen stripe. These are abundant hummingbirds that can be found throughout Panama, Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina.
